Getting Started

Blinkd is a social rating app designed to foster self-reflection and personal awareness. By allowing users to rate each other on various categories like appearance, style, and overall impression, Blinkd helps you gain insight into the immediate perception you create. You can compare how others see you with how you see yourself, encouraging meaningful self-reflection and personal growth. It's designed to foster positive interactions while maintaining a safe, respectful community.

Blinkd is available for download on:

  • Android: Download from the Google Play Store
  • iOS: Coming soon to the Apple App Store

Creating an account is easy:

  1. Download the Blinkd app from your device's app store
  2. Open the app and tap "Register"
  3. Enter your email address, create a password, and fill in your profile details
  4. Upload a profile photo (required for rating)
  5. Read and agree to our disclaimer and community guidelines
  6. You're all set to start using Blinkd!

You must be at least 18 years old to use Blinkd. This is strictly enforced to ensure a safe environment for all users. We may request age verification at any time, and accounts found to be underage will be permanently suspended.

No, a referral code is not required to sign up. However, if you have a referral code from a friend or influencer, you can enter it during registration. This helps us track how you heard about Blinkd and may provide special benefits in the future.

Account & Profile

To edit your profile:

  1. Go to the Profile tab in the app
  2. Tap the "Edit Profile" button
  3. Update your information including name, bio, location, and photos
  4. Save your changes

Note: Changing your profile photo may affect your existing ratings, as your appearance may change.

Currently, email addresses cannot be changed directly in the app. If you need to update your email address, please contact our support team at support@appforge.world with your request. We'll verify your identity and make the change for you.

If you've forgotten your password:

  1. On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?"
  2. Enter the email address associated with your account
  3. Check your email for a password reset link
  4. Click the link and create a new password

The reset link expires after 1 hour. If you don't receive an email, check your spam folder or try again.

To delete your account:

  1. Go to Settings in the app
  2. Scroll down and tap "Delete Account"
  3. Confirm your decision

Warning: Account deletion is permanent. All your data, ratings, and connections will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered. If you just need a break, consider logging out instead.

A profile photo is required because Blinkd is a visual rating platform. Your photo allows other users to rate you and helps create an authentic community. Requirements for your photo:

  • Must clearly show your face
  • Must be a recent photo of yourself
  • No inappropriate or offensive content
  • No photos of other people, celebrities, or cartoon characters

Yes! Blinkd allows you to upload up to 6 photos to your profile. Your primary photo will be shown when others are rating you, but additional photos give viewers more context about who you are. You can reorder your photos by dragging them in the profile editor.

Ratings

Blinkd uses a multi-category rating system where users rate each other on 5 categories:

  • Hair: Style, color, and overall hair presentation
  • Looks: Facial features and natural appearance
  • Clothing: Fashion sense and outfit choices
  • Posture: Body language and presentation
  • Overall: Your overall impression

Each category is rated on a scale of 1-10 using sliders. Your ratings are averaged across all users who have rated you to give you an overall score.

Any active Blinkd user can rate you. Your profile will appear in other users' rating queues randomly. The more active you are on the platform, the more likely your profile will be shown to others for rating.

To protect user privacy, ratings are anonymous. You can see your average ratings and rating history, but not the identity of individual raters. This encourages honest feedback without fear of social consequences.

Yes, if you rate someone again, your new rating will replace your previous rating for that person. However, you can only rate the same person once per day to prevent rating manipulation.

When you update your profile photo, users who previously rated you have the opportunity to re-rate you based on your new photo. This ensures ratings remain relevant to your current appearance. Your rating history is preserved, but new ratings may affect your average.

A self-rating allows you to rate yourself on the same categories. This is optional but can be interesting to compare how you see yourself versus how others see you. Self-ratings don't affect your public rating average and are visible only to you.

Your overall rating is the average of all ratings you've received from other users. Each category (Hair, Looks, Clothing, Posture, Overall) has its own average, and your profile displays both individual category averages and an overall average across all categories.

Social Features

To add friends on Blinkd:

  1. Go to the Friends tab
  2. Use the search function to find users by name or username
  3. Tap on their profile and select "Send Friend Request"
  4. Wait for them to accept your request

You can also become friends by mutually following each other.

Following: A one-way connection. You follow someone to see their activity and updates. They don't need to follow you back.

Friends: A mutual connection. When you send a friend request and it's accepted, you become friends. Friends have additional features like being able to rate each other directly and see more detailed profiles.

To invite friends:

  1. Go to the Friends tab
  2. Tap the "Invite Friends" button
  3. Enter your friend's email address
  4. We'll send them an invitation to join

You can track which of your invites have signed up directly in the app!

Yes! You can rate anyone on Blinkd, including your friends. In fact, friends can access a special "Rate Friend" feature to rate each other directly without waiting for profiles to appear in the random queue.

To unfriend or unfollow:

  1. Go to their profile or find them in your Friends/Following list
  2. Tap the "Friends" or "Following" button
  3. Confirm that you want to unfriend/unfollow

The other person won't be notified when you unfriend or unfollow them.

Privacy & Safety

We take privacy seriously. Here's what's private and what's public:

Private (only you can see):

  • Your email address
  • Individual rating details (who rated what)
  • Your self-ratings
  • Your exact location

Public (visible to other users):

  • Your profile photo and additional photos
  • Your display name
  • Your average ratings
  • Your general location (city/state, if provided)

If you encounter inappropriate content or behavior:

  1. Go to the user's profile
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (or "Report" button)
  3. Select the reason for reporting
  4. Provide any additional details
  5. Submit the report

Our moderation team reviews all reports within 24 hours. Serious violations may result in immediate account suspension.

To block a user:

  1. Go to their profile
  2. Tap the three-dot menu
  3. Select "Block User"
  4. Confirm your decision

When you block someone:

  • They can no longer see your profile
  • They cannot rate you
  • They cannot send you friend requests
  • You won't see their profile in your rating queue

You can unblock users at any time from Settings > Blocked Users.

If your account is suspended:

  • You cannot log into the app
  • Your profile is hidden from other users
  • You will receive an email explaining the reason

Suspensions may be temporary or permanent depending on the violation. If you believe your suspension was a mistake, contact appeals@appforge.world with your account details.

The following content is strictly prohibited:

  • Nudity or sexually explicit content
  • Violence or graphic content
  • Hate speech or discrimination
  • Harassment or bullying
  • Impersonation of others
  • Spam or commercial solicitation
  • Photos of minors (anyone under 18)
  • Illegal activities

Protecting minors is our top priority:

  • Users must be 18+ to create an account
  • Age verification may be required
  • Photos appearing to be of minors are immediately removed
  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material)
  • Suspicious accounts are reported to authorities

Technical Issues

If the app is crashing, try these steps:

  1. Restart the app: Close it completely and reopen
  2. Check for updates: Make sure you have the latest version from the app store
  3. Restart your device: A simple restart often fixes issues
  4. Clear cache: Go to your device settings > Apps > Blinkd > Clear Cache
  5. Reinstall: Uninstall and reinstall the app (your account data is saved)

If issues persist, please contact support with your device model and OS version.

To fix notification issues:

  1. Check that notifications are enabled in your device settings for Blinkd
  2. In the Blinkd app, go to Settings and ensure notifications are turned on
  3. Make sure Do Not Disturb mode is off
  4. Check that battery optimization isn't blocking background activity

Android users: Some devices have aggressive battery optimization that can block notifications. Check your device's battery settings.

Photo upload issues are usually due to:

  • File size: Photos must be under 10MB. Try using a smaller image
  • Format: Only JPEG and PNG formats are supported
  • Connection: Ensure you have a stable internet connection
  • Permissions: Make sure Blinkd has permission to access your photos

Try taking a new photo directly in the app using the camera option.

To improve app performance:

  • Close other apps running in the background
  • Ensure you have sufficient storage space on your device
  • Connect to a faster Wi-Fi network if possible
  • Update to the latest version of Blinkd
  • Restart your device

If you're having trouble logging in:

  1. Double-check your email address for typos
  2. Make sure Caps Lock is off when entering your password
  3. Try resetting your password using "Forgot Password?"
  4. Check your internet connection
  5. Make sure you're using the latest version of the app

If you still can't log in, your account may be suspended. Check your email for any notifications from Blinkd, or contact support.
